What are Flash and Shockwave?

These two programs are animation/movie programs. You can make your own interactive animations and movies for display on Web pages. Shockwave is made in Director and makes more ambitious animations and movies than Flash.

Not all people's systems are enabled for Flash and Shockwave, so alternatve versions are commonly offered.


First check if your system is Flash and Shockwave enabled.

What are Flash and Shockwave used for?

Flash is often used for colourful navigation buttons  

Flash text creates colourful headings often with rollover

Flash movies are commonly used for animated introductions to web sites or animated banners.
